Poggio Le Stalle (Umbria) is the name of a 250-year-old farmhouse on the edge of a protected woodland. The view of the Terminillo mountain range across the valley is breathtaking. The estate near the village of Macchie lies in a green oasis of peace and is steeped in the typical atmosphere of the Italian countryside with its wealth of flora and fauna. Via the beautiful terraced borders with wildflowers, herbs and local flora, you arrive at the organic vegetable garden. Next to the olive grove there is a fruit orchard with plums, pears and apples. Figs, walnuts, cherries and persimmons are scattered throughout the entire domain. The swimming pool (14x7m) is open between May and October and is surrounded by large sun terraces. On both east-facing terraces it is also pleasant to stay in the shade of the two enormous walnut trees and the pergola. 7 km from Macchie lies Amelia, an authentic town completely surrounded by polygonal walls from the Etruscan period. Outside the walled centre, the town buzzes with numerous bars, restaurants and shops. Amelia is the ideal starting point for exploring Umbria further: Rome, Perugia, Assisi, Spoleto, Todi, Orvieto and Narni are easily accessible from Amelia by car or train. The ground floor of Poggio Le Stalle consists of a beautiful open kitchen, a spacious reception and breakfast room and an atmospheric aperitif corner with fireplace for shared use. It is wonderful to dine outside on the large terrace under the 'green' pergola, with a view of the unspoilt valley. An open stairwell leads to five double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, each furnished with a personal touch. The presence of art and design go hand in hand with the use of natural materials from simple country living. Poggio Le Stalle owes its character and rich history to the previous inhabitants who shaped this beautiful old building with a love for Italian culture and surroundings.
